I was sitting at my desk when I received an email from my son’s school informing me that Sesame Street had just been released and that they’d filmed a video on the kids.
The new video, entitled The Worst of the Worst, was being aired in schools across the US, UK and Ireland on December 5, 2017.
As the children in the video, called “The Bunch,” sang the lyrics of “The Best of Me,” I realised how awful the song was and that it was a direct rip-off of the song by the US band The Bands.
I was floored by the sentimentality of it all.
“I couldn’t stop thinking about how bad the song is,” he told me.
The video features a bunch of kids, including some of the children from my local primary school, doing something that’s just as awful as the lyrics to the song, which they do in a video called “I’m the Bunch” on YouTube.
The Bunch’s lyrics are: “You’re my Bunch, you’re my little friend, I’m your best friend.”
“It’s really, really awful,” said one of the students, who goes by the name of Jazzy.
“It’s a song about people with disabilities and it’s an absolute rip-on to ‘The Best Of Me.'”
I’m still not sure how the Bands’ song is different to the lyrics but I can tell you this: they ripped off their song and made a parody of it.
The video is so bad, in fact, that the Burchys say it was so bad they’ve stopped making music.
“The whole point of the video is that kids can relate to it, to the kids singing it,” Jazzer said.
“We’re talking about being in an environment where they don’t know anything about disabilities.
They’re listening to the video and then they hear a clip of ‘The Burch.”
I was surprised to see the Bunkys’ song was a parody, and I’m sure it was, too.
I spoke to the Bunts’ manager, who told me the Bunks were in the US to promote their upcoming album, but they’d originally intended to make a parody video with a song from The Burch.
They told me their intention was to be the voice of a different group of kids.
The Bunks’ manager is an autistic artist who is also the lead singer of the band The Wombats, who also sang in “The Worst of The Worst.”
I asked them if they could comment on the parody video and they did, but said that their intention wasn’t to be disrespectful.
I reached out to the group on Facebook to find out what their reaction was, but I was told they had nothing to say.
Jazzy and his fellow Bunchers have said that they were inspired to write a song because they felt bullied in their local school.
I’m not sure if the Buntys intended to offend or if they just thought it would be funny, but it certainly seems like the Bunks had an off-putting sense of humour.
In the song that they sang, the Buns sing about being bullied by their classmates.
Jazzer’s mum, Tanya, told me she was upset by the video.
“It was just awful.
I just couldn’t believe that somebody would think it was funny to parody their music,” she said.”
We have kids at my school that are so intelligent, and we are so proud of them.
It’s such a shame.”
But it wasn’t just the Bumbers’ mum who was upset.
“I was horrified when I saw it,” said Jazzys mother, Tania. “I couldn
